I love the characters of The Infernal Devices, and they were my favorite aspect of the story, so I didn’t mind reading more about them. Except that was like another twenty pages. There was a point at which I wondered if it was ever going to end. I understand she wanted to set up the family lineages and tie up all the loose ends, but man, that was a long ending. After the climax where the gang defeats Mortmain, it takes Clare 104 pages to wrap the story up. It tied in well to The Mortal Instruments, answering many questions about the origins of many things.In other words, it was exactly what I expected.I just had one problem with it.The freaking forever ending.I counted. There was a glorious ending battle where the protagonists defeated the bad guy in a seemingly hopeless situation.
The characters were done well and were consistent with their characterizations in the previous books. I didn’t really have any qualms with the plot.
